Author(s): Richard L. Slosson, PhD / Charles L. Nicholson, PhD / Terry L. Hibpshman, PhD
The Slosson Intelligence Test-R3 provides a quick estimate of the general verbal cognitive ability of those with learning disabilities, mental retardation, blindness, and orthopedic disabilities, as well as those who are gifted or who have no disabilities. Test items assess general information, similarities and differences, vocabulary, comprehension, arithmetic, and auditory memory. The SIT-R3 manual includes information on administering the test to the visually impaired/blind.
Administration and Scoring
Items are presented orally, and most responses are oral. Norms are presented in intervals of three months for ages 4-0 through 17-11, with one normative group for ages 18-0+. The SIT-R3 overall score is reported as a total standard score (TSS) with a mean of 100 and a standard deviation of 16. Percentile ranks, mean age equivalents, t scores, NCEs, and stanines are provided. Administration takes 10-20 minutes.
